From Roxanne:
Welcome- I love working with people and that’s why portraiture embodies the majority of my work. It’s important for me to channel a relaxed environment so my subjects feel relaxed and at ease. Throughout any given shoot, I gravitate between director and documentarian, creating space to capture natural moments with an artistic style. I spent the last 9 years in Los Angeles where I developed an interest in fashion photography. I’ve since returned to Asheville where I seek those who want to be photographed in a stylish, artistic, authentic way. I shoot on location and also work from my cozy home-studio in Montford for private sessions.
Prior to LA, I interned at National Geographic and received degrees in Photojournalism and Studio Art from UNC-Chapel Hill. Grants from UNC and The Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University enabled me to work on a range of multimedia projects in remote areas of the world. To this day, whether it’s a commercial assignment or a life milestone, I aim to capture images with timeless, beautiful energy.
Roxanne as Director, Weaverville NC, circa 1992
